Health Coverages

This course will cover a wide range of types of private insurance policies and government programs- from indemnity plans, to PPOs to HMOs provided on an individual basis and as group coverage. We will detail the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as it applies to group coverage and what it requires of employers. A thorough review of the fundamental concepts and complex coverage details of Disability Income Insurance will also be presented. Definitions of total disability and optional policy benefits will be covered. You will read interesting and important case studies to bring this topic to life. Discovering the importance of Long Term Care insurance is also discussed; emphasizing how to recognize the difference in policies, eligibility requirements and what may work best for you. We’ll review the importance of the Kennedy-Kassebaum Act which expands the tax advantages for purchasers of LTC insurance and raises the thresholds for disability.
